Wednesday Medley

Today I am joining in with Terri for her National Do Nothing Day Medley of questions...

If you would like to join in...answer the questions below and link up with Terri HERE...

Gooood morning, friends!

Wednesday, January 16 is National Do Nothing Day!  National Nothing Day was proposed in 1972 by columnist Harold Pullman Coffin.  This day has been observed annually since 1973.  Of course, the way to celebrate it is to do nothing!

To commemorate Do Nothing Day in SOME way, tell us something about your life in 1973.
Well, I was five and happy! I think! HA! I was living in a suburb of Pittsburgh at that time with my parents and two sisters (one older and one younger...my brother was not born until a few years later).  That's all I can remember! HA!

Now that we are thinking back, please tell us what your favorite past-time was as a child.
I used to love to play outside! Where I grew up; the neighborhood was filled with kids around my age! We made forts and played tag until the streetlights came on and then we went in for dinner. Unlike kids today, we were never indoors...it was a great time to be a kid!

What is the best way to cheer you up on a bad day?
Pedicure!!! I love a pedicure!!! It just makes my whole day! Also, ice cream! But since I am trying to lose a few pounds that is out! HA!

How old were you when you first started dating?  Do you remember your first date?
Sadly, I do not. I was a wild child and started everything early...including partying. I got in trouble a lot and I do not remember a lot...so sad!

Today is also National Fig Newton day.  Do you like figs/Fig Newtons?
I LOVE fig newtons!!! YUM!

Tell us something random about your week:
My employer is closing the site where I work...no one knows what this holds for the employees. We are being told that we will be asked to move or we may be eliminated...we won't know anything for a few months.....UGH!

I hope everyone has an amazing day filled with joy! Hugs!

    1. Than k you so very much - no doubt I will end up where I am supposed to be! The idea of change sucks to me but it is usually not so bad after you get to the new "place".

  4. I was not allowed to date until I was 16. I also had strict parents that followed me everywhere my dates took me. This resulted in me doing a lot of sneaking around. haha. I think the prom was my first actually real "approved date.

    1. Sometimes the sneaking around was worse, hugh? My neighbor had parents like that and she was a maniac when she left the house!! HA! She went crazy in college and became the life of the party - not in a good way! I know because I did the same thing...not because of parents but because of my love of alcohol from a young age!!! The reason I don't let it touch my lips these days! HA!

  6. I enjoyed reading your answers too! I'm sorry to hear about your random thought. That is unsettling to say the least. I hope it works out for you. I visited Pittsburgh when we were looking at schools for my daughter and we loved it but she ended up in Boston. Your childhood sounds a lot like mine!

    1. Definitely unsettling but time will tell how things go! The company is begin great about giving us notice at least...they could have waited until the last day and passed out the pink slips, right? So...there's at least that! I feel bad for kids today that have the opportunities to play outside like we did without fear and worry! It's such a different world today!

  7. Your childhood play reminds me of the neighborhood in Oklahoma when I would visit my Grandparents. I had the best time! So many kids! My actual neighborhood in Missouri was not nearly as active and fun. There were a few of us though.
Geez! I am so sorry about your job. I am sure it will all work out though. Keep us posted. Praying!!! I loved your answers! Have a nice week!

    1. Thanks so much Lori! Your grandparents home sounds like a lot of fun! I am sure it will all work out - if offered a move; I would be coming your way to St. Louis...although I am not sure I could ever stop being a Steelers and Pirates fan! HA! Have a great week!

  10. p.s. I was 14 in 1973, listening to bands like the Stones and visiting Portobello Road, London, on my weekends to wander the markets - great pre-loved clothes to be found, I knew a lot of the stallholders well as I was such a frequent visitor. Getting the big red bus up there involved chain smoking and lots of posing. I like to think I have moved on from that image these days (gave up smoking anyway!).

    1. Ha Ha! Sounds like we were a lot alike at that age and I would have enjoyed your company immensely!! Only exception was I was wandering around Pittsburgh...lol! I loved hitting up thrift shops and finding great deals on well worn and well loved clothing! Also, I gave up the smoking too...probably a little too late but every bit of health helps right?!?! Thanks for coming by - hugs!!! Have a great week!!!
