Happy Birthday Jess and Ick Bugs

Happy Monday ya'll!!!!

I am back home from traveling and so happy about it!!!

I spent the weekend googling this...

ICK!!! I bought Mandaville plant's at Costco last week. I got two for my mom and one for me. Turns out, they were all covered with little, yellow bugs. I googled it and it turns out it was aphids!!! ICK! The way to get rid of them is to spray the plant with soapy water but now it seems that I have killed the leaves and my plant is dying!!! My mothers is exactly the same! I am stopping at Costco to see if there is anything they can do for me on this!!! ICK! Sooo gross!

I was so happy to just be home this weekend that I spent the weekend cleaning and playing with my cats! The kittens were enthralled with a momma bird that has made a nest in my hanging plant on the left side of this picture. They watch here come and go all day bringing worms to her babies!!! So cute! I bet they wish they still lived in the barn now since they could get her and munch away!!! HA HA!

Saturday night I went to give my lead in a neighboring town and saw this amazing sight on the way home...pictures never do it justice!

Then this happened...HA! I was stuck waiting on a train since I stopped to get a picture of the moon - HA HA! Good thing I was only headed home...

Sunday, in Columbus, OH, my brother ran with my (and his) niece for Girls on the Run.  He is the only remaining runner in the family so he was elected to run with Aly. She says we are all too slow - HA!

Notice how much he embraced the role?!?!? Love this man!!! He painted his hair pink and wore amazing stripped knee socks!! GO UNCLE MATT!!!

Finally, this was breakfast! After traveling I have got to stay on track with my eating healthy!!! Today was a good start except ....

After I took the picture above I left for work. I set the mug pictured above on the top of my car, loaded all of my things into the car and then drove off. The mug rolled off my roof and smashed onto the pavement in a million pieces! Also, covered my car in coffee and peptides!!! HA HA! So, I hit a drivethru car wash on my way to work....Not the greatest start to the day so UGH.

Finally, it is my beautiful niece Jessica's birthday today!!! If you see her, tell her happy birthday! I love you sooo many bunches beautiful girl! This is her below in the middle of me and her Mom!!!

Happy week everyone!!!

HUGS to you all!

  1. Oh Ann, the coffee mug disaster sounds like something I would do.lol I would be feeling all virtuous at getting organized then drive off leaving my mug in pieces on the ground.:) So glad you found a car wash to go through. The other evening I was driving down a busy road here in Decatur end a piece of tin blew off a truck and I had the angels on my side as I was able to avoid it while not hitting another car. I knew it would tear up my undercarriage if I hit it. We live exciting lives don't we?? Happy Birthday to your beautiful niece!

    1. Wow! So happy you were able to avoid it! That is definitely scary! And yes, our experiences sound like we are magnets for disasters - HA! I visited Decatur once...a man named Ronnie Milligan...he had a trailer on his ex-mother in laws land in Decatur. Your city is so beautiful with the fields and fields of cotton (at least when I was there late 90's). Have a great week! Hugs

  4. sorry about the coffee cup. Once at ny favorite pizza place I saw a guy put the pizza box on the roof of his car so that he could unlock and open the door. then he forgot to put the pizza into the car, just climbed into the driver's seat and drove away. Needless to say the pizza wound up all over the road.

    1. Yes Ann...I need to be less in a hurry all the time! I do dumb things like this all the time because I need to slow down! HA! Costco was great and gave me a full refund! Have a great day! HUGS

  6. Costco has an awesome return policy if you decide you don't want to keep the mandavillas. Or you can hit those aphids with alcohol on a cotton ball to kill them.

    1. Yes Kathy - Costco was great! I got a full refund with no questions asked. Fingers crossed the plant lives - I will keep you all posted but it is not looking so good right now after the dish water :-(

  7. Favourite mug, I suppose. I've forgotten what a Mandevilla is, but I used to just hose aphids off roses. They would reappear after a time, but it kept them under control. I don't like to show my ignorance but I really don't know whether you see the same moon as we see, but at a different time of day. We had a full moon a couple of days ago.

    1. I do not know if we see the same moon either Andrew...no question is a dumb question, right? I will be googling that today just to find out! I may have to try the hose thing but it is a lot to handle when you are in a condo--I have to bring the hose from the kitchen sink all the way into patio-HA! Time will tell if the plant lives - the bugs are so icky! HUGS

    1. Thanks Billie Jo - Costco was great and fingers crossed after spraying the plant with Dawn soap and warm water it may survive! Fingers crossed! Have a great day! HUGS

  10. Please tell me you took a bar of Ivory soap, whittled it into shavings, put the shavings in a clean sprayer bottle with warmish water, took the plants outside and gently sprayed them on the driveway. And let the plants dry.

May have to repeat more than once. Works on roses and in the vegetable garden.

    1. I actually used a little Dawn dish washing soap in warm water and sprayed the entire plant. I hope it does not die but it does not look too healthy right now :-(
      Fingers crossed it survives! HUGS

  11. Ick on the aphids! They are nasty little buggers. I've never had them in the house, but hate when I run into them in the garden. I hope Costco will do something about your plants since they sold them infested. The moon was great on Saturday and I was glad I wasn't at work, because the full moon really does affect the behaviors in the dementia unit...always a crazy couple of days leading up to it. Hooray for your brother! And a belated happy birthday wish to your niece!

  13. Costco should take them back or at least give you your money back. The moon is beautiful. Way to go on the running with your brother and niece. So sorry about the mug, I'm so careful never to put anything on top of my car. Your breakfast looked yummy. Happy Birthday to your beautiful niece!
