Tuesday night was National Night Out! They put on a really cool outdoor activity at area in Stone Harbor for the kids! They had a bounce house, police cars to sit in, fire trucks to sit in, face painting and balloon art! Hopefully this will be the only time we see this girl in the back of a police car!
We came to this a few years ago also when we were here in Stoneharbor. The most adorable little girl was making balloon art and she was here again this year. She's so cute and she absolutely loves what she's doing. She made a butterfly and a bunny for the girls.
They had something they kept calling beer goggles. They were goggles the kids put on so that they would see what it look like to have been drinking. Here's the demo they did with each of the kids…

Since we had so many beautiful days at the beach we decided to take a days break and go shop at a nearby town Cape May. We shopped a little and then ended up having lunch at this place called Delaney's. It was really good!
Here's the family posing at the table waiting for lunch…
When we got home from shopping I needed to use up the old bananas. What better way than banana bread?!?!? It's a crowd favorite and is soon as we baked it the bananas were gone immediately! Here's what I did… Smashed up four bananas and the recipe follows...
Banana Bread
Smash 4 ripe bananas
1/3 cup melted butter
Mix with wooden spoon
Add 1 beaten egg
1 tsp vanilla
Mix more with wooden spoon
1 tsp baking soda and 1 pinch salt sprinkled over the top of mixture
1 cup sugar
1 1/2 cups flour
Mix all together and pour in 9 X 9 greased pan
bake at 350 for approx 40 minutes
Yummy!!!!
After dinner we wanted to take the kids crabbing. So we grabbed the crab pots and off we went!
We had all their crabbing meat and our crab pots… What more do you need? For those that do not know… Crabbing meat is just chicken legs or chicken necks.
As soon as we got there we tied a chicken leg into the middle of each net and dropped them to soak on the bottom and waited for the crabs to climb in. The sunset was so pretty on the Bay we couldn't resist getting a picture! How great is this one?!? Such cuties!
We tied the pots onto this railing so they could just sit and wait and not have to hold the string.
They were sooo excited when they got their first Maryland Blue crab! Here they and it are!!!! Lol!!!! See it in there?!? We just caught and released.... no intention to keep it and cook but it was a keeper size!!!!
And this is the second one...its a little smaller and we threw him back too.
The kids had a blast and they did not want to leave but it was getting dark and i am not a fan of fishing in the dark...you never know what you will pull from the ocean at night-lol!! I promised i would take them again tomorrow! I am soo happy they had fun and enjoyed it!
I think i finally got the gist of using my ipad to blog so hopefully i will be able to post daily...we shall see...
I hope everyone is having an awesome week!! I miss all your blogs! I am going to catch up by reading on the beach tomorrow hopefully!!
Anyone else struggle to post from an iPad? Anyone else go crabbing? Do you catch and release or take home and prepare when you fish?
What was the purpose of that "fort" on the beach? Good grief! Thanks for the recipe!!
ReplyDeleteRight Terri!?!? We thought The exact same thing… It was only two adults. It appeared they just wanted their space… Just really took away from the beautiful ambience of the beach.
DeleteThat beach set up is crazy! Did they have a pet with them or something? I'm so confused! Oh well, to each his own!

Hi Kellyann! That's what we kept thinking… It really was nuts! There were no pets and no kids… We think they just really wanted their own space. We were confused as well LOL! Hugs! Have a great week!
DeleteCan you adopt me?
