Toni Taddeo's Tuesday 4

Looking back...

Hello everyone!! Today I will be joining Annie for her  Toni Taddeo's Tuesday 4. I am so happy to be joining in for the first time ever! Annie’s friend Toni started this and she continues it weekly in here memory! I am grateful to be able to join in!!

1. What music were your parents listening to when you were a kid? When I was a kid my Dad listened mostly to country. That was 60’s and 70’s so there was a lot of  Dolly Parton, Oak Ridge Boys, George Jones, Tammy Wynette, Roger Miller, etc. Let’s say old country. Does that music bring back memories for you? It absolutely does…I still know all the words to all the songs.

2. What was your favorite meal and beverage as a teenager? As a teenager I loved a Big Mac!!! We didn’t really get to eat out a lot so it was a special treat when we got to go to McDonald’s for dinner. I was always so excited when I could get a Big Mac and Coke. Is it still or have things changed for you? It is definitely not the same now! I actually had a big Mac about three weeks ago and it was awful. I don’t think I remember it that much better than it was so Big Mac’s have changed. I remember them being delicious and it really and truly was not delicious. Anyone else notice this or is it just me??? I guess the good part is that I will not ever get another Big Mac again. LOL

3. As a teen did you live in a city, country, small town? I lived in a suburb of Pittsburgh called Bethel Park. I could not have picked a better hometown to grow up. I have a lot of hometown pride still to this day. I love my Bethel Park Blackhawks and I love the town itself. I still live nearby in adjacent town called Bridgeville. I was a majorette in the band and loved every second of it.  This picture recently came up on my Facebook: it is of our majorette squad in 1985. We were performing for something the school organized called Telerama. I am the one in the back row alone…lol!

4. Would you like to live in your hometown today? I think I loved it so much growing up there if I had children, I would definitely still be living there!!

Thanks again Annie for hosting!!! This was so much fun and I hope to be joining in each week!!! Can’t wait to make some new friends!!!!

Hugs to everyone! Have a great week!!!

  2. We must be about the same age. I was in high school in 85 and my parents listened to the same music. I turn 52 in September.
I worked at McDonald's when I was in high school and I agree that the food has changed. I think some of it is the same...filet of fish, but the burgers are not as good. Loved your answers! Have a nice week.

    1. We definitely are!! I have one year on you!!! I turned 53 in May...but I feel soooo young still. LOL! Crazy same...I also worked at McDonalds my freshmen year of high school. My manager was a super rude lady so I quit and turned to waitressing through out high school and college.

  3. We also didn't eat out a lot as a child. And Maccas (which is what Australians call McDonalds hadn't reached us). I really, really didn't like them when they did get here.

    1. Wow!! I did not know that is what it is called by Australians. That sounds much better than McDonalds.....HA! My parents were very frugal with spending which is how they were able to put all four kids through college and still have a great retirement today. I hope to do as well as them with my planning!

  4. I had forgotten all about George and Tammy! They were on the radio so often. I have heard several people now saying that Big Mac is not the same anymore!!

  5. George and Tammy used to live right here in Lakeland! Their house was just on the market (again) for $1.2 million. I agree, McDonald's and Burger King have both changed their food (money, I'm sure). Not as delicious as at first. Wendy's is still pretty good but even Wendy's has changed. I wanted to be a majorette and even took baton lessons. My band director wouldn't let me try out because I played first trumpet. He actually said to let the woodwind players try out. He wouldn't get a way with that today but I'm glad I stuck with my horn. Another fun Tuesday 4!

    1. I guess I never knew they were an actual couple. I thought they just sang together - LOL!! Guess i did not follow celebrity gossip back then - HA! That's too funny...I actually had to quit the clarinet to try out for majorettes but my band Director did not mind. I was awful at clarinet and was last seat on my good day! HA! You would never want to hear me play alone...I struggled to read music so it was awful! I was a much better majorette! HAHA

  7. 1 & 2. Different blogger ages are evident.
    3. Country and I mostly disliked it for no real reason. I am a city person.
    4. Certainly not. As an adult I would dislike it even more.

  8. I love the squad photo best!
I grew up in downtown Toronto, and couldn't afford to live there now. I like our 16 acres here, despite the dang bugs.

    1. Jealous of your 17 acers!! That must be wonderful!! I worked in Mississauga for about 6 months and loved it there so much! Your land is beautiful and everyone was so friendly!! My favorite experience was dinner at the CN tower restaurant. We wanted to do the ledge walk and it was too high of winds that night :-( I was sooo bummed! Have a great week Jenn!

  9. I heard a lot of that music too and it brings me right back.
    I love your majorette photo!
I think the fast food places have changed too, not near like they were when I was younger.

    1. Thanks Mari! This was a post to play along with - it is always fun to reminisce. I was also good to see that everyone is just as bummed as me about the fast food changes. LOL! HUGS

  10. Thank you for visiting me today. It's always good to get to know new people. i know you've been traveling a bit, and I haven't really been able to follow all of it, but it looks like it was interesting. Now, that Big Mac...I haven't had one in years. I try to avoid the fast food hamburgers unless we are traveling and there just isn't any other choice. They truly aren't as good as they used to be. I love that you are from the Pittsburgh, PA area. My dad grew up in Crafton, PA, a suburb of Pittsburgh. I never really spent any time there, however, because his parents retired and moved to Florida about the same time we did. But my dad had a lot of wonderful memories from growing up. Oh, you were a majorette! I tried and failed. Just too uncoordinated and a lefty. But I did become a cheerleader, but that was before they had to do all the gymnastic type stuff they do today. I wouldn't have made it if they did all that. I was loud and jumped around a lot, so that worked fine. LOL. I enjoyed your answers. Thank you for joining in.

    1. I know exactly where Crafton is! I used to work right outside of Crafton. It is only about 15 minutes from where I live...good and wholesome people come from there!! I think I would be okay with a Florida move any day of the week to not have snow storms all winter - HA!! I tried out for cheerleading and was not selected so I guess everyone eventually finds their fit, hugh? Thanks for stopping by - I look forward to getting to know you more Pamela!! Have a safe and happy 4th!
