Saturday

Happy Saturday y’all!

As everyone knows I have four cats… I also have a lot of cat trees and cat furniture. Ever since they were all kittens; they love to climb these trees and hang out!

They use them as scratching posts also which I think saves my furniture a little bit… But only a little bit.

As you can see in the picture below my chairs took a lot of the action too.

And this chair also… They scratched a hole all the way to the stuffing. LOL and Ugh…

My parents got new furniture so I asked them if there was anyway I could have their old stuff. It’s still in great shape and I think it will be perfect to replace my scratched up furniture.

My wonderful parents spent their Saturday morning packing the chairs into their jeep and driving them to me in Pittsburgh. It’s about an hour and a half drive each way so I really appreciate all the time it took for them to do this for me today. They also helped me take the old chairs to the dumpster. On a side note: it is also only 5 degrees outside in Pittsburgh, PA this morning so it was a frigid day to move furniture!

Here are their old chairs in place at my condo… I love them!

A huge thank you to my parents! I was blessed with amazing parents that are so helpful and loving in so many ways! I love the chairs and I appreciate them so much!

Oh , also, speaking of chairs….my good friend’s husband made this awesome hand chair with metal and rebar and she was going to throw it out! It is a great statement piece and I love it for my condo!!! All mine for free!!! It’s a great conversation piece!!!

Anyone else collect your families furniture when they are going to get new stuff? What is your favorite furniture pieces? How are spending your Saturday? Cold temps where you are? Or warm?

I hope you all have a safe, warm and happy weekend!!! Hugs!!!

  1. We're always passing around furniture lol. I have a box with a table in it from my mom's house still out in my car. That hand chair is so cool!

  2. It is Sunday here. And I hear on on the cat condominium saving the furniture. A bit. Jazz also used my legs as a scratching post. I heal. The chairs don't.
The hand chair is an amazing piece. How does it feel to sit on, having a large hand cradling your butt?
It is warm here. Not as warm as it often is, but warmer than I like.
Stay safe - and yay for supportive family and friends.

  3. Now that you have new furniture I would definitely look into some sort of cat deterrent so they don't scratch it up again.

    1. I wish Kathy!! I have tried EVERYTHING! I tried tapes, foil, lemon sprays, etc. It is frustrating but I will do my best to direct them to their cat towers. I already warned y parents that sadly it will probably not look that great the next time they see it. HUGS

  4. The chair is an interesting piece. I hope the fingers are strong enough to resist bending by a prankster.

It's usually others taking our cast off furniture.

    1. The fingers are crazy strong! I think he must have bent them with a tool because you can not bend them with strength. Happy right of your weekend Andrew!! HUGS

  5. I love how supportive your parents are! Nice shout out to them. Do you have a plan to keep the cats from scratching up your new-to-you stuff? Is the hand comfortable?

My parents had trouble getting rid of things, and always said that we could have anything from their home. When they passed away, my brother got all the furnishings as agreed. Sadly, his house burned down a couple of weeks ago. :(

    1. Thank you Abby - yes, my parents are wonderful! I do not have a plan - I have tried everything but I will do my best to direct them to their scratching areas when I am home. The hand is not all that comfortable; but it will be for my nieces and nephews. Maybe my butt us a little too wide - HA!!! Have a great weekend Abby!!! HUGS

  6. When I got married in 1987, the only piece of furniture we bought was our bed, everything else was a hand me down. So when the cat and dog destroyed our couch, it wasn’t horrible.

I think there’s a product called “no” that will discourage the cats.

    1. Thanks for the recommendation. I will look into that but you are correct; that is why I am okay with hand-me-downs. That way it is not that horrible when they destroy the furniture. Sending so many HUGS!

  7. Your parents were wonderful to bring you those chairs. How long to you think it will be before the kitties discover them. What a cool cat tree. I haven't had any cats since 2015, but they would have loved that one. Have a wonderful weekend and stay warm!
