Just a Consumer FYI...
If you purchase a GE appliance...
It can break 3 times before they have to replace it under a lemon clause!!
This sounds ridiculous enough, right?!?! My BRAND NEW appliance has to break three times before GE will swap it with another one.
Well, it gets better than that!!!
Not only does it have to break 3 times in order to be considered a lemon but ALL THREE OF THOSE BREAKS HAVE TO OCCUR WITHIN 30 DAYS OF EACH OTHER!!! And trust me...mine happened within 32 days of each other and they would not replace it even when it was 1 month old!!! Lowe's stepped up and replaced it since GE would not. And that was only after I sat in the showroom, in person, crying in the appliance section of Lowe's.
Crazy!!!!!
The reason I am posting this is that a friend just purchased a refrigerator and is having issue after issue!!! I told her, if she would have asked me I would have warned her...
...never purchase GE appliances!!!!!!!!!

Guys.... I am so sad!! I woke up this morning sick! My throat is killing me! I leave in two days for Florida...I can't be sick...p...
Wow. My appliances are now aging. I hate all that research we have to do. I wonder if Consumer reports notes this about GE?
ReplyDeleteI know...it is awful!!! The companies take advantage of consumers now and it is awful! What happened to old fashioned customer service...if you are not satisfied, we will replace it?!?!! Good luck - don't buy GE~big mistake! And I would definitely buy from as local store and not Home Depot or Lowes....you can read my old posts to explain why but no one takes responsibility for damages if you use Lowes or Home Depot...they blame the contractor or the manufacturer no matter what!
DeleteWow, that's awful! Sorry you're having to deal with this, but THANKS for the warning!
ReplyDeleteI am good now since Lowe's stepped in...I now feel bad for my friend!!! I wish I would have know she was looking...I would have warned her!!!! UGH!
DeleteOh man... that is what I always fear buying big tag items.
ReplyDeleteExactly - I learned that you have to use a small local store and not huge corporations!

ReplyDeleteI completely agree and will never even buy so much as a light bulb from them at this point! UGH! I also love my Bosch-thank goodness for the red light that shines on the floor when it is running; otherwise I would not know it was one! Love it! Have a great day Margaret!
DeleteSorry I didn't mean to delete - wanted to correct spelling. Oops. Yes, you'd think that light on the floor would help wouldn't you? Hubby will still open it without looking and thinks it's not running. I hope you are feeling better.
ReplyDeleteLOL! Been there and done that! H! I am slowly starting to get better...still crappy but better! :-) Thanks for asking! Have a great week!
DeleteThanks for the heads up! We have Whirlpool appliances in our house. They came with the house and that was 12 years ago. I am happy to hear that Lowe's came through for you.
ReplyDeleteNo problem Debby! The replacement policy is one I did not even question when I purchased but I wish I had now! HA! Have a great week!
DeleteUgh, sounds frustrating.
ReplyDeleteRight?! If I can prevent ONE person from having to deal with what I gone through - then I will be happy! I hope you have a great day!
DeleteWow, this is good to know. I know years ago I bought a really expensive refrigerator from Sears. When the ice maker stopped working, it took several months to get them to look at it and try to fix it. After three fixes, it still did not work and we were stuck with this big fridge with a useless icemaker compartment. Live and learn.
ReplyDeleteBuying from smaller local companies is good advice. They will want to keep the customer happy and coming back. Now I will read a few of your other posts. (I'm new here.) You have a great day, hugs, Edna B.
Thanks Edna! I am sorry about your Sears experience! You only need to experience one bad purchase to become wary of all major purchases to follow! I only hope I can prevent someone else from having to deal with what I went through!! The lemon policy is absolutely ridiculous!! Have a great week Edna!!!
DeleteWow, that's horrible. You would think they would stand by their products and want to make their customers happy.. Now I wonder what brand all my appliances are.
ReplyDeleteRight Ann?!?! I was shocked by the lemon policy! It is awful! My new replacement is a Bosch and it is amazing!
DeleteWe just bought a new washing machine. Thank goodness it wasn't a GE!
ReplyDeleteYes - thank goodness! Not that you would have gotten a lemon too but who knows at this point- not worth the gamble in my eyes!
DeleteAnn,
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for stopping by!! The Pittsburgh Pens AHL team is based here in the Wilkes Barre /Scranton area and in fact, the arena where they play is 5 minutes from our house!! We have season tickets to their games and have been season ticket holders for over 15 of their 20 years here. I don't go to the games as it is too much for my knee but probably after surgery and I retire, i will start to go. Joe has a guy who buys most of the games and sits in my seat.... Joe is also an avid Steeler fan which is unheard of here because most are Philly fans here.....
Hugs,
Deb
YAY! Go pens!!!! That's so cool and I am so very jealous! Awesome!
Deleteoh dear! Good to know!
ReplyDeleteI wish I had before purchasing...have a great day Sarita!
DeleteWhat a horrible experience! We've always stayed away from GE and purchase Samsung as often as we can! Have a great day! Hugs!
ReplyDeleteGood thing that you go with Samsung every time! I love my Samsung television and sound bar! Have a lovely week Benita!
DeleteGood to know! I just purchased a new washer and dryer but went with the LG brand. crossing my fingers I won't have any issues with it!! Thanks for the comment on my post and for the follow. I'm following you back!! Looking forward to reading your blog.
ReplyDeleteSaimi
How wonderful you are following now! Thank you! I am so happy you went with LG - I woudl never recommend GE again - ugh! Fingers crossed you will not have any issues at all! Here's to new friends!!!!
DeleteHave a wonderful day Christine!
ReplyDeleteGE appliances are the worst!! And they are a terrible company to deal with. Sorry you had to deal with them, glad to hear that Lowe's stepped up.
ReplyDeleteLast time I bought appliances, I bought high-end ones. Paid a lot for them, but they are so quiet and good and perfect, I am glad I did.
ReplyDeletejust had the same issue with maytag washer/dryer last summer. bought at home depot. I raised such a ruckus, HD gave me my money back. this can happen to all brands. we had a horrible issue with Kenmore freezer, doesnt' matter the brand, something can go wrong with all of them or any of them.. my new washer is fridgidaire, and I bought it at a local mom/pop. no more big box stores for appliances.
ReplyDeleteThank you for the heads up!!! I appreciate when blog buddies share what they have experienced to help others.
ReplyDeleteSending Hugs for the rest of the week!
