Good morning everyone!!! Just finishing up the late weekend recap with a Part 2!!! LOL!!
My family was in town this past weekend for the Great Race in Pittsburgh! We do the race every year as a family and this year did not disappoint!
After the race excitement was over (previous post) we celebrated my Dad's birthday since most o fus kids were there. We missed my brother and his family but he had to make an urgent trip to Japan for work. We love you guys if you are reading!!!! SMOOCHES!
After the race, we all went out to eat at Olive Garden and then everyone came over to my condo!!! Did I mention how much I love everyone at my house??! I miss them all as soon as they leave - it is so fun to have people over!!! Especially my family!! Everyone chatted a while...
I love this of Mom and Dad snuggling in the chair...ran out of seats...LOL!!
Then we sang Happy Birthday to Dad and he blew out his 75 candles on his Bethel Bakery cake!!! Bethel Bakery is the only cake my family loves!!! We have used them since my parents moved to Bethel Park before we children were born! It is our go to bakery!!!
Then around 4PM everyone needed to head out...my little sister had a three hour drive home and my parents had a two hour drive. So we all said goodbye except my oldest sister and her husband and daughter. They were spending the night in Pittsburgh to go to the Steelers game at 8PM that night and they invited me along!!! YIPPEE!!
So off we all went to the game at Heinz Field!!!
Just a few obligatory selfies with the field in the background! We had a great time even though Steelers lost! UGH!!! That atmosphere is so electric in Heinz Field on game day - I love being there in person!
The season can still turn around...Go Steelers!!! There is always next week!!!
Hope you all are having an amazing week!!!! Take care and please comment before you leave! I love hearing from you!!!
PS- I am picking a winner for my Starbucks giveaway tonight!! If you have not entered yet: go HERE!!!! I will announce it in my blog post tomorrow!!
I am also linking up with Thinking of Thursday and Rebecca Jo for her Thankful Thursday. You can link up with Rebecca Jo HERE.
Today I am thinking about how very thankful for friends and family that inspire and teach me everyday! My parents have been so supportive every time I call with questions about this dishwasher fiasco and my friends at work and home continue to give me great advice when I ask for it!
I am so thankful that I know that I do not have to have all the answers today...I just have to find out who does - ask around and get ideas and input...this alone helps me soooo much!!!!!!!!
What
team do you cheer for?? Would you rather watch in person or on TV? Do
you have any family traditions that do not have anything to do with
holidays? tell me about them please!! Hugs
Thanks for stopping by! I am a Pittsburgh girl - born and raised! I blog about my city, travel, weight loss, recovery, family, and life in general! I love the Steelers, coffee and my cats! I took a crappy job shutdown and turned it into a positive mid-life pivot - I am now attending nursing school - set to graduate in December 2022!!! Please make sure to comment and let me know you were here...I love making new friends!

Guys.... I am so sad!! I woke up this morning sick! My throat is killing me! I leave in two days for Florida...I can't be sick...p...
Looks like a lot of fun. Your mom and dad do look precious and glad he had a happy birthday. I have to root for my home team Carolina Panthers. I would rather watch the game curled up in my recliner. I hate fighting crowds but I would not turn down the opportunity to actually go to a game.

That's like my brother in law. They got tickets because my sister wanted them but he prefers to watch on the couch with his snacks! LOL! Thanks for the sweet words on my parents...they have made it to 53 years married! They inspire me everyday! Good luck to your Panthers!!! This does not look like Pittsburgh's year! HA HA! Have a great rest of the week!
DeleteSounds like a great weekend of celebrating!! I'm not much of a football fan, although if I had to pick a team, I'd go with our local CFL team, the Ottawa RedBlacks. I've always wanted to go to a game, because everyone says the atmosphere is crazy fun. Maybe I'll get to a game this year!
ReplyDeleteIt was a fantastic weekend Jill!!! You shoudl definitely make it a point to go!! The electricity in the air is what makes every game so fun! You just can;t get that same level of excitement at home! Treat yourself to a game!!! Have a great rest of the week and thanks for stopping by and commenting!
DeleteAhhh - happy Birthday to your dad!
ReplyDeleteWe have a local place that has to be where we get our birthday cakes from too - its a MUST
I am glad to hear my family is not the only cake pretentious people!!! HA HA HA! Thanks for the birthday wishes - I will definitely pass them along!
DeleteWe are season ticket holders for the Browns over here. I should rephrase that as my other half is a ticket holder with a few of his friends. I have never been to a football game. I prefer to multi-task and watch at home.
ReplyDeleteAwesome!! Almost all of my relatives are Brown's fans!!! They think this is going to be "the year"!!!! GOOD LUCK!!
DeleteWhat a nice weekend for you all. Your family seems so fun, happy birthday to your dad! And I had fun reading "Part 1". Too bad you couldn't run this year, but best to not injure yourself further - nice showing from the rest.
ReplyDeleteI follow the Broncos mainly because I've lived in Colorado for so long. My husband's moods shift with the wins and losses! I've never been to a game, I think it would be fun as long as it's not freezing cold. But I like to watch bits and pieces from the futon and am not a fan of game day traffic :)
It was so much fun Abby! I love my family although I admit I am a little partial - HA! I have never been to Colorado but my Mom and sisters went skiing there and loved every second! The traffic is definitely the downfall of games!!!
DeleteBeing with family is THE BEST!! Great photos of some great times!
ReplyDeleteHard to believe a bakery that's been around that long! Everything old has gone out around here.
