Thankful Thursday

Happy day after the 4th yinz!

My brain is fried and I just got into work. I heard fireworks all night last night...I do not feel like I slept at all.  Did you ever feel so discombobulated you can't think?!?!?!  That's where I am at...it's going to be a long day!

I spent the 4th at my parents house on the lake and shared a bed with my two older nieces.  Three of us on the same full bed...sleep much? LOL! I am feeling angry and annoyed today so I thought it is best to turn that around so...

I'm linking up with Rebecca Jo @ Knit By God's Hand for Thankful Thursday.

I am thankful for...

...my adorable nieces and nephews that I love with all of my heart even when they are way too honest! My youngest niece spent the past two days we were together telling me how fat I am. On Tuesday night she explained to me that I was so fat I was sinking a tube and then said it again about three times. On Wednesday, she said it another two times and I finally flipped and yelled at her to stop that it was very rude and impolite! I know I'm fat but I do not need to keep hearing about it from a 7 year old. I know she had no idea how hurtful it was to me but wow! So annoying! Her parents sent her for a timeout and she apologized. UGH! KIDS!!! Maybe now I will take my diet seriously - my doctor would be very happy! LOL

...my little condo! So many people in my area have lost power and have been flooded from these crazy storms we are having in the South Hills of Pittsburgh, PA. I am on the second floor so flooding is a non-issue for me and we hardly ever lose power in my building. I feel really bad for those affected though! Also, fireworks are visible every year right outside my bedroom window! I watched fireworks and Big Brother at the same time lying in bed! WIN WIN!

...the pontoon parade and family! The lake celebrates the fourth the weekend after so this upcoming weekend will be spent celebrating the fourth. We have a tradition that we participate in the pontoon parade at my parents lake every year. The kids love it and have so much fun picking the theme and decorating the pontoon. This year we are doing a construction theme and it will be epic! Fireworks will be on Saturday night! This was our pontoon last year (we did a tub with bubbles and a shower spout)! Turned out super cute!

...My God and my recovery! Without them I have nothing!!!!

...All of you! I have only been back to blogging for a few weeks now and I realize how much I have missed it! I love reading about all of your lives and getting to share mine with you!

I hope you all have a great day and please know how very much I appreciate each and every one of you!

Anyone else have a way too honest child in your life? Anyone have any weight/diet tricks? Anyone else loving Big Brother?? Who is your fav? I am just so happy that there is something on TV that is not a repeat! HA

  1. Oh gosh... kids sometimes. Yeah, they need to learn on when to say things & when NOT to say things. I would have had my feelings hurt too.
    BIG BROTHER... Love its back!!!!
Thanks for linking up with me today!

    1. First, that pontoon 'bath-tub' is WONDER-full! :)
Having a child - never mind a relative - call me names like that would definitely flip my switch. What's that, reverse bullying? I think society's so focused on protecting children's feelings, we forget how cruel they can be.

To answer your questions? I've been a yo-yo dieter all my life … presently 20 lbs. heavier than my ideal. Adkins always works best for me because I love red meat and I CANNOT, WLL NOT do portion-control.

    2. I loved Atkins also but I recently re-tried it and it did not work at all! I was really strict too! The first week I lost 11 pounds and then the next 7 weeks NOTHING! I thought maybe it was due to my age but I had great success with it in the past! Have a great weekend!

  2. Kids really can be very rude sometimes. I'm glad you finally told her so maybe she'll not do that to anyone else. I think they sometimes really don't know how hurtful they are being. I've lost about 10-12 pounds since the end of May. I got a wake-up call from my doctor because my sugar was too high. So now I am eating low carb and walking most every day and it seems to be slowly working.

I love the pontoon bathtub and I hope you have a wonderful time this weekend in the parade. Looking forward to seeing a picture.

    1. Thanks Cathy! Yes, I am sure she did not realize how hurtful it was but I agree, she definitely should never say that to anyone else! I need to work on portion control...I am pretty sure I know what to do now I just have to do it instead of making excuses. I have psoriatic arthritis and I ran for a lot of years overweigh so I did a lot of damage to my knees. I need to drop the weight! Have a great weekend!

    2. Oh my, kids sure do say the darnedest things sometimes. I imagine I would have lost it just as you did. Kids don't seem to have the same filters/respect that we had when speaking to adults. It's good her parents backed you up on that so she's learned a good lesson.

I dumped 4 inches of rain out of the rain gauge over here in Latrobe this afternoon. I was surprised not to hear that Ligonier had flooded again. They could sure use a break.

Jealous of your view of the fireworks!

  3. I forgot to mention that I take Adipex-P for weight loss. My doctor prescribed it. It's part appetite suppressant and part stimulant to get the metabolism revved up. I'm on my second go at it. Last year I lost 30 pounds on it.

  4. What a great way to turn around a day! When I get into a funk I try to do the same thing - it's always a good idea to find gratitude. Not getting much sleep always puts me in a mood!
