Here fishy fishy fishy...

I am quite sure I will live to regret this decision but I am putting my profile out on POF (Plenty of Fish). I am starting a man hunt...LOL!

I really am okay single but it sure would be nice to have someone to do things with other than girlfriends.

My last three relationships ended very badly!!!!!! The last one lasted 3 years but in the end it ended due to him hiding an addiction to marijuana! I am sober so finding out that he used it daily was a little rough. By the time I found out, I had already fallen for him so I though I could ignore it. After I realized I could not ignore it he kept saying he was quitting. Alas, it was not ignorable (is that a word, LOL?!?!). It is hard to deal with a person that HAS to have a drug! The mood swings and irritation was too much and he had no intention to ever quit. So that was the end!

The one before him lasted about 2 months and then he just started to act like the person he really was. You know how we put on our best behaviors when a relationship is new? Well, who he was was very brash and a racist...scary! That ended that quickly!!!

And finally the one before him lasted about five years and the foirst four were great! We moved in and I honestly thought he was THE ONE! Then he relapsed on pills and would not get help so that ended that!

I am going to now look outside of the rooms of recovery for love and see how that goes. Maybe "normal" men are normal?!?! I am going to give it a shot and I will keep you posted on all the excitement! LOL!

Here goes nothing...

What is your favorite thing to do on a first date? Do you agree the woman should offer to pay? Are there gentlemen left out there? Know any sweet nice men you can send my way?

  1. Gary and I have been married for 32 years, so I haven't been on a first date in over three decades! I'm not sure I would would have the courage to date again at this season of life. You are a braver woman than I am! A huge kudos to you for putting yourself out there!

I do believe there are good guys out there, and I hope you connect with one of them!

  2. So PoF freaked me out a bit with a TON of messages and it was very overwhelming. But... that being said I did meet someone on it. I sent him a message that I was leaving PoF and I deleted the app. Turns out when I deleted my profile and the app, he didn't see the message. So I ended up finding him again through Bumble (which I like, much, much better). And we've been communicating ever since. Its still new (only about almost 3 months of solid communication) but I am smitten. I met him a few weeks ago and we may be getting together again soon hopefully if his work schedule allows it. We shall see!

Best of luck to you! There are (hopefully) some good guys out there still.

    1. Thanks for sharing your experience Desiree! I have never heard of Bumble but I will definitely try it if you liked it better. Good luck with the new guy...three months is a pretty decent start - I hope it all works out for you! I will keep you posted!!! Hugs

    2. Bumble is neat because once you're matched with someone, it's up to the woman to make the first move. You have like 24 hours to establish communication. I just liked it a lot better. PoF seemed like a 'free for all' if that makes sense and it was just very overwhelming.

  4. You go, girl! I'm not familiar with these sites, but spent some highs and lows on Match.com in 2001-02. One fellow seemed like a romantic 'win' , then we both agreed we'd make better friends. (And yes, we're still friends on Facebook.) Go figure, once I quit trying I wound up meeting my hubby while at work.
