Crusin' Anyone?

I am finally getting prepared for Fall...I was hanging onto Summer with all my might but it is time so I am now embracing fall.

I am heading out tonight to get my fall cereal (I LOVE Pumpkin Spice Cheerios) and that is it. Nothing else pumpkin - not even candles! HA!

I got my new fall hair yesterday after work.

Here is the new shorter cut and color...I love it! In the Fall my stylist adds a darker base color and two different reds and a purple.  I was so ready to lose the light blond hair this year.

I honestly think I am always bummed at the end of summer since vacations are over then.

But then I thought to myself...they don't have to be, right??? I called my mother and asked to if she wanted to go on a vacation in December (when everyone with kid's is busy shopping and planning for Christmas). SHE SAID YES!!! My father is a home body and just wants to be home so it is me and Mom for the trip!

We are going on Royal Caribbean in December to Mexico and Grand Cayman. Our ship is Adventure of the Seas. Here is a video tour of the ship...

The only thing I knew I wanted was a balcony so we splurged and got one. I want to be able to sit in my room and see the wide open ocean!

And the booking said that all of our on-board gratuities are already included in what we paid.

I have something to look forward to at the end of the year so I am officially ready for fall!

Has anyone else ever been on a Royal Caribbean cruise or any cruise for that matter?

I would love any and all tips you have for us!!!

I hope you all have an amazing day!!!!! HUGS to you all!

  1. The cruise we went on in July/August was on Royal Caribbean. We were very happy with everything. Double check what they mean by gratuities being included because for us, and on most as I understand it meant that at the end when we settled up our on-cruise charges, there was $14.50 per day, per person added to cover all gratuities. Also there is no cash used on the ship. You just keep handing them your sea pass and it gets added to the room. You have to keep track if you don't want a nasty surprise at the end. The crew was awesome and the ship very nice, though. I think you will enjoy it.

  2. I like much smaller cruises and do hate the big ships. But so glad you are looking forward to this. It will be a perfect break when the days are dark and cold.

  3. I have no tips/advice on a cruise; have never been on one. What a wonderful thing to have to look forward to! Your new 'do looks super. I am ready for fall as I am not a fan of the summer heat and humidity. Have a fabulous day and weekend!

  4. We loved our cruise on Freedom of the Seas in 2016. the balcony is definitely worth the money! We'd done cruises on the Carnival Valor and the Carnival Breeze (both fun), but we preferred Royal Caribbean. Have you cruised before? Feel free to ask anything...or you can read my cruise blog --- https://songbirdsbirthday.blogspot.com/ --

  6. Love your new do. Awesome for fall.

Hubby and I have been on cruises. Eat wisely or you'll gain a lot of weight. If you exercise hit the gym each day for a good workout. It will help you wear the clothes your brought with you.

Clean you hands often. There are sanitizer stations all over the ship.

Go to the shows in the evenings. A great way to be entertained.

If you can get a balcony it's every so nice to sit out there with a bottle of wine and get away from everyone.

Have a fabulous day and weekend. ♥

  7. Been a while but I do know cruises are really fattening. You can eat great food 24 hours a day. Just know you will gain 10 pounds and worry about taking it off later.

  8. I think a cruise looks amazing!! But I get so motion sickness - I'm afraid to invest in one.
    Love your hair!!!
I'm not big on all the artifical pumpkin flavors - but give me some pumpkin bread or pumpkin pie - YES!

  10. Nice. Looks like fun. I did a bunch of crusies for Uncle Sam's Yacht Club back in the day. It was interesting, not as nice as the cruises on cruise ships but they they were interesting.

  11. Nice! I'm afraid I'll get sick on a cruise, I need to go on a short one to test it out. Also I need to get a passport lol

  12. Love your hair! I've been on 2 cruises but they were over 30 years ago. One to the Bahamas and one to the Virgin Islands. Totally loved them both!!!!

  13. Great new look with the hair! We've only done one cruise (Norwegian Fjords) but we loved it. It was a while ago now but our tips were included and we didn't get any nasty surprises.

  14. Love the way your hair looks. I don't bother coloring mine. It's more of a hassle than I'm willing to deal with...lol
I've never been on a cruise but sure would love to.

  15. What fun, I'm so jealous! I would love to get away for Christmas, but then who would supervise the Tamale making...lol. Wow, your hair is gorgeous, love the colors!

  16. Great colours in your hair. I would be a little cynical about gratuities being included. While they are, there is still pressure to tip more. Because we here generally don't tip, cruise ships operating from here state that it is not a requirement, but still, the pressure is there. Anyway, the trip should be great.

  17. Great haircut! I have to admit I don't want to go on a cruise. I don't like the thought of being on water that long and not being able to escape lol (long story). I DO however like the idea of a December holiday. We try to space things out so we go for a long weekend away several times throughout the long winter. It gives us something to look forward to - and keeps us going!

  18. First of all, LOVE the HAIR!
Honestly, cruises have never really appealed to me, but you and your mom should have a great time. I bet she's excited that you called and asked her to do that!
Enjoy your fall cereal (I laughed, didn't know that was a thing. I need to get out more!)

  19. Your hair looks great! A woman with whom I work had her hair dyed purple. Just one bright shade of purple. Which does not occur in nature. Maybe in tropical fish. Looked like a carnival wig.

Speaking of Carnival... and Princess... and Royal Caribbean...

My mother and I sailed to Hawaii on the Emerald Princess in late January. Our first non-Holland America cruise.

My mother did not like the ship. Too big for her. She felt there was too much walking to get from the dining room to the theatre, for example. If that is an issue for your mother, consider having supper in a restaurant (extra fees apply) or on the Lido on the nights she wants to see the entertainment. Or stop in the casino or the shops or a lounge for a drink while enroute to break up the walk.

The only problem was tendering. The ship anchors offshore because the port isn't deep enough for the ship's draft and some of the lifeboats are used as tenders to ferry the passengers from the ship and back.

Everyone is issued a color-coded number group. The idea is to get your number and then go and do something else. Like eat breakfast. And listen to the announcements for your color group disembarkation. Except the passengers in the expensive suites 'cause they get skips. One time my mother and I were upgraded to a suite and it was pretty sweet!

The line was so long to get back to the ship we went to the hotel across the street and had a couple of martinis in the bar.

You may not have to tender. Personally, I like it because you get to be close to the water.

Is this your first cruise? Very smart to get a balcony. The next time I go to Hawaii, I might get an inside cabin. It takes four days to get there and four days to get back. Not ideal balcony conditions. And in Hawaii I spend a lot of time on shore or on deck. Or Caribbean or Mexico.

We sailed from Manhattan to the Caribbean and back. The balcony doors were so salted up we couldn't see through them very well. And we were on the eleventh or twelfth deck!

Which Royal Carib ship are you sailing on? Does it have self-service laundrettes? Or the ship's dry cleaner / laundry service?

I always take too many clothes but that's just me.

Oh. And don't bother with exchange rates. Everybody is on the dollar. Even if they're not American.
