Ian’s Spanish Sangria

Happy hump day ya'll!!

Today I am sharing with you my brother and sister-in-law's favorite sangria recipe. They went to Spain and took a class on how to make Sangria. At the end of the class, they drank A LOT of sangria and left with a copy of the recipe. They made it for my family over the 4th of July Holiday and everyone loved it (not me of course...HA!) so I thought I would share it here! Enjoy!!

Here is the cute couple prepping the ingredients...LOTS of ingredients...mostly alcohol!! HA HA!

Here is my sister-in-law cutting up the fruit...you use one lemon and one orange sliced into thin rings...

Put that into a large glass pitcher...all they had was a trifle bowl but it worked!!! HA! Add ice!

Get a good sniff of the brandy ...

and then add 100 ml of it to the bowl...

Then add a half of a liter of red wine...cheap red wine is fine!

Then add 100ml of vodka and 100 ml of peach schnapps...

Then 100ml of apple schnapps...

Top off with fizzy orange and fizzy lemon soda...I think they put about 100ml of each in.

And that's it! Mix all together and serve!!

Little pose with their finished product!

Here is the official recipe...

I am adding this fun shot of my sister to the end...maybe she had one too many Sangria's as she was very happy to let me put a watermelon sticker on her forehead and get a picture - HEE HEE!  Just kidding - I love my family for humoring me ...this is actually my sister making her FAMOUS mac and cheese for the family one night...yum!!! I will save that recipe for another time!

Have a fantastic day and week! Now I am off to catch up on everyone else's blogs!

Do you drink alcohol? What is your favorite drink? Ever have Sangria? Do you like to take classes when traveling or just relax?

It's JC's birthday!!!

Happy birthday little brother!!

My little brother is such an amazing sibling and friend! Also, he is the epitome of a NICE PERSON!

I have NEVER heard him say a negative word about anyone and his children are the same way!!

He is very positive and loving to his family and a wonderful provider!

I could not have asked for a more wonderful little brother!

Since my parents had three girls and then FINALLY got their boy - we girls believe he was a wee bit spoiled by my parents...but we won't get into that here except to say the title of this post is fitting. We always joke with him and call him J.C. (for Jesus Christ because he can do no wrong) please do not be offended...it is a joke...HA!

He is an amazing brother, son, father and I think husband...HA!

He loves spending as much time as possible with his children and is fully engaged with them whenever he is with them.

Such a bunch of cuties...my little brother in the middle - his kids on each side!

He recently took his son to a hockey game for his birthday - my nephew was in HEAVEN!!!

This is the family at a Steelers game last season...

And he recently took his daughter to the Father/Daughter dance for Indian Princesses. Such cuties...both of them!!!

Happy birthday Matt!!!! No matter how big or old we get - you will ALWAYS be my little brother and I love you so much!

XOXO

Back to School Pivot

My sister is taking her youngest son to college today for his Sophomore year. When I spoke to her after they loaded up the minivan and sprinter she mentioned that they are going to have to move a heavy sofa couch into his place.

From what I understand; it belonged to one of the other kids friends and they decided not to take it back to school because it is so heavy.  My nephew saw it in the garage and decided it is perfect for his room at school! LOL!

My sister and brother-in-law loaded the sofa couch into the sprinter and she said it was horribly heavy so they are not sure how they are going to get it up three flights and into his room at school!!

It totally reminded of one of my favorite episodes of Friends. I will leave you with this laugh for today as I sit at work and picture my sister and brother-in-law pivoting the sofa bed up to the third floor!

Wish them luck - please!!!!!

Good luck and have a great sophomore year Matthew!!!!

Any one else love the show Friends? Anyone else moving kids into school? The old shows were so much better - what is your favorite show from "back then"?

My Fun Week

I made tutu's this week - four of them to be exact!!! It was fun and easy and actually pretty cheap!  I just followed directions from google.  We are running the Color Run in Pittsburgh in October and decided it would be fun to run in tutu's so I made them for my whole group!!! So me, my sister, my two nieces and their friend are all set with a tutu (even if they dont want one!)!!! Soooooooooo fun!!!

This was the perfect activity this week as I wanted to stay in a few nights to watch the last two Big Brother shows and the premier of Survivor! The tutu making fell in perfectly with that plan! Very mindless looping and cutting strips of tulle!!

Here they are hanging and waiting to be worn!!!

Last night I went to the baseball field with my boyfriend to watch his sons team play for Cecil little league! They won 11 to 10 in the last inning! It was a great game!

This is his son Matt when he was pitching.  What a sweetie!!!

After the game we flew (literally) high speed to get ice cream before it closed.  This is the leftover of my Sarris sundae! YUMMO!!!! I got peanut butter chocolate ice cream with milk chocolate hard cap from a local favorite stop in Canonsburg, PA. If you ever get to visit there, you will NOT be disappointed!!! It it a candy shop (they make all the chocolate on site) and an ice cream parlor!

This is a picture from this morning at work! It is Fun Friday and the theme was back to school! I brought in ants on a log (celery with peanut butter and choc chips).  Other stuff was Capri Sun drinks, puppy chow, egg salad sandwiches, pb&j sandwiches, chips, crackers, cheese, brownies, cake, hoho's and twinkies! It has been a glorious morning and I think I gained 100 pounds!!! HA HA!

This is my favorite new shoes!! I stopped at the mall last night when I left work to get my free VS body spray (full size!! This was awesome) Anyway, I ran into my hairdresser, Ann, and she had on the cutest shoes! She said they were from Charolette Russe and they were on sale for $15!!! Anyone who knows me knows I love a great deal so I ran right down there and got a pair!!! Thanks for the heads up Ann~~~~ PS - I also got two other pairs for $9....all shoes on sale right now!!!!

Hope you all have an amazing weekend~~~~

Woo Hoo It's Friday

WOO HOO!!! It's Friday! I figured I better get something in here as it is Friday and I always talk about my exciting life so you cant leave Friday blank, right?

Does anyone else think that women are sooooooo much more reliable than men - I had this discussion with my sister this AM and it just seems that women do what they say they are going to do/when they say they are going to do it. That's all I am looking for......ha ha!

Apparently my little brother Matt has been ripping on my finish time for the Great Race so we have cordially invited him to "smoke" our times by running the Turkey Trot with us over Thanksgiving...we will see what happens!

Tonight, one of my favorite girlfriends Erin will be giving her lead at my homegroup Beth Clair so anyone who knows what I am talking about should come - it will be a great one - I PROMISE!

I will be heading up the parents house this weekend (without "the man" as he has "to work") so I will get some good lake pics to post of my fun weekend.

Reporting in with love...
