It is customary for me to go to my sisters house to spend New Years with her family!
It won't be long until the kid's want to go spend it with their friends so I am in until the time comes when it is just my sister and her husband - at that time I will leave them alone to have a romantic New Year's! HA HA!
It must look like a lot of fun when I post every year because my brother in law's mother decided to come join us this year. I was off my game again for this holiday and hardly took any pictures. I will never let this happen again.
Throughout the evening we decorated gingerbread houses and painted a nativity set.
We drank non-alcoholic bubbly with frozen grapes and had silly string fights in the front yard.
Then at midnight...
- we ran outside and beat on pots and pans
- shot off a popper in the front yard
- screamed Happy New Year
- ate a bite of lucky Pittsburgh pretzel
- shook our change in our pockets
- jumped a chair.
Here are the few pictures I took...
HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!
No resolutions here!!!
Did you enjoy New Years? Do you stay in or go out? Do you make resolutions? If yes, are you still doing it?
Great fun by the sound of it. Very quiet here. Across the road for dinner and then stood on the street at midnight to see city fireworks.
ReplyDeleteFireworks are always awesome!!! Nice that you can see them just by standing out on your street too! Happy New Year to you Andrew - I hope it is a fantastic year for you! HUGS
DeleteIt sounds like you had a wonderful time! I haven't heard of a lot of your traditions. We don't shake the change in our pockets, we put money outside in a bush before midnight and bring it in after. I don't know how our neighbors would take the pots and pans. lol Anyway...we usually get together with some friends, but I had to work this year so for the first time since I was a kid I didn't even stay up to see the new year in.
ReplyDeleteI have never heard of the change in the bushes thing. All the things we do are either Pittsburgh or Polish - I am not sure which! HA! But as blessed as I feel, they must be working, right?? Maybe I will use yours too and add change in the bush next year - cant hurt!!! HA HA!!! Have a a fantastic New Year Stacy!!!!
DeleteYour New Year was definitely noisier that ours - we had a very quiet one.
ReplyDeleteQuite is also very good - and yes, that is the opposite of mine! LOL!! HA HA!!! Have a fantastic New Year Wendy!!!
DeleteSounds like a great time!! I have never heard of doing those traditions!! My sister's birthday is NYE so we usually have a little family gathering - this year, Chinese food & cupcakes, and played boards games at my house with my fam and my sister's hubby's parents. My mom was under the weather and slept all evening in the living room while we played in the dining room lol. We watched the ball drop at midnight on TV and then everyone went home! It was a fun evening :)
ReplyDeleteThat is awesome!!! How cool that she shares her birthday with NYE!!!! What a great excuse to get the family together every year!!! Chinese food sounds delish!!! That may have to be on our menu next year! YUM!!!! Happy New Year to you Jill!!!!! HUGS

DeleteIt looks like you had a fabulous time! Ours was quiet with an early dinner (around 4:15) at a local restaurant for their prime rib special (we were home before 5:30), stitching and reading off and on for me, channel surfing for the hubby, watched the ball drop in Times Square, toasted in the New Year with sparkling grape juice, and went to bed.
ReplyDeleteNo resolutions made, but did make some loose goals for the year!
Perfect Robin!!! I am very jealous of the Prime Rib special - that sounds delish!!!! I am craving red meat lately I think because I hardly ever eat it! Tonight may have to be a steak night out!! YUM!!!! Happy New Year to you and hubby! HUGS
DeleteWe did not go to the clubhouse for the NYE party this year so our's was very quiet here at home. We did watch the ball drop before heading to bed!!

DeleteSounds like a lot of fun! I didn't take many pictures at Christmas and none on New Year's. Mark and I just stay home and watch the shows on TV and have champagne at midnight.

DeleteMy sister and I stayed in and went to bed by 11.30. Nothing on television, we had phoned the parentals (who were an hour ahead of us) and we had to get up early the next morning as I was travelling home again.
ReplyDeleteSounds like a great person to spend it with! What fun you also got to hang with your sister!!!! I also still call my parents! I Love that - Happy New Year to you Mara!
