Passing Around My Cooties

Guys....

I am so sad!!

I woke up this morning sick! My throat is killing me!

I leave in two days for Florida...I can't be sick...please!

I popped four aspirins and headed into work.

Since they announced the closing of our company site; HR has quietly changed the sick policy. It used to be that if we are sick we just stayed home and called in...no biggie unless it was more than three consecutive days and then you had to call and let the company know. Now, if we are sick we have to use vacation days! WHAT?!?! Seriously, corporations really make me angry sometimes. I think it is due to the fact that they do not want people calling off sick to go to job interviews.

Anyway...all that to say...I will not be using vacation days to be sick. I will drag my sick a$$ into work and infect everyone else I guess.

Please send me healing wishes as I do not want to be too sick to fly in two days...UGH!

Thanks in advance for all the healing prayers and I hope you all have a wonderful day!

  1. I hope you're feeling better and the worst has passed before you leave for your trip!
I can sympathize... I had a cold a couple of weeks ago and finally thought I was over it. Then I woke up yesterday all full of sinus congestion again, worse than the first round. *sigh* And the company I work for is pretty good about giving sick leave, but the office staff have all been coming in with colds all winter, so I don't feel right staying home with it. bah!! So frustrating! Here's to healthier days ahead :)

  3. OH NO... drink lots of HOT green tea with honey for that throat!!! & take some Tylenol & steam those sinuses if you can. Bless your heart!!!
PS - I hate work policies on sick days. So dumb. They get mad when you get everyone sick but dont want you to stay home.

  4. I hope you're way better when it's time to head to Florida. Crossing fingers and toes for you.

I'm not sure how they can legally do that. If you have a doctors note I don't think they can do that.

    Have a healthy day. ♥

Your probably right in assuming HR doesn't want people using sick days to go on job interviews, but too bad, I say!
Sending good healing juju your way!

  9. Oh no! After my last workplace was taken over by a corporate giant, it seemed like all the soul was just sucked out. Have you seen these 'Under the Weather' pods? I saw them for sale in Wal-Mart the other day. There's a meme circulating FB someone is using at work to keep from contracting the flu. Hope this link works!

  10. I am so sorry you're not feeling well and I'll be praying for a quick recovery. That is just wrong for them to make you use vacation days when you are sick! Sounds like they are trying to push people out.

  14. This will sound weird, but it works. Eat a raw clove of garlic. It will totally knock it out of you.

  15. I wouldn't want to use a vacation day to stay home sick either. At an old job we had sick days and I never used them when I was sick. I used them when I wanted to take a day off

  17. Yikes you poor girl!! Take some Zicam it works wonders. Man I used to work with preschoolers and talk about cooties. They would come sick because parents don't keep their kids home then we would all get sick, but at least the school district has good insurance so no vacation days had to be used.
Take care and I hope you feel better before your trip!

  18. Well it sucks that you are sick, it sucks that the company is making you use vacation days and it sucks that your vacation starts in two days and you are sick. Get well soon!! Prayers lifted!

  19. We had to use sick days for job interviews and they just looked the other way. In order to use personal days, you needed TEN days notice to get approval. Job interviews don't usually come with ten days notice!

    1. WOW ten days is crazy!!! But they are making us use vacation days! UGH - I need those! LOL!!! Have a great week Kristin!

  22. Wish I'd read this earlier. Maybe you'll have internet in Florida.

Walgreen's is having a sale on DayQuil and NyQuil. The only thing that helped me when I got so sick on vacation was the DayQuil and NyQuil geltabs. More convenient than the syrup when traveling. In fact, I'm thinking of putting DayQuil and NyQuil in my cosmetics bag along with the sample sizes of toothpaste and hair conditioner and perfume so I am better prepared for my next trip.

Usually I get the sniffles in September but they're gone by May. This one hit me by surprise. With a vengeance.

And keep everything in the original boxes so TSA doesn't get any bright ideas.

Hoping you feel better and have a wonderful time.
