A Little Amish Vacation?

Okay!!! Back and ready to move on! Yesterday I mailed back my company laptop, credit card and cell phone! I am officially no longer working for Bayer.
It was a nice run but everything has to come to an end and I was no willing to move so that is that.
I am applying for any six sigma jobs that are in companies I would feel proud to work for! Fingers crossed I find something quickly!

I went through what I would call a slight depression for a while there. I wasn’t depressed depressed but I was kind of sad. I knew it was coming and they definitely prepared us for it; but it hit me like a ton of bricks. I honestly thought I would retire at that company. And I didn’t realize how much value I put into who I worked for. I really loved that company and I gave my job my whole heart.

Anyway...I have my first interview tomorrow...wish me luck!

I have been spending as much time as possible with my family on the weekends! As you remember my sister‘s family, me and my parents have all been together often on since Covid hit in March. We were in Florida altogether when we first heard of Covid.

These are the people that I’ve been spending most of my time with. We are believers in wearing masks when we’re with other people and we are definitely trying to keep some distance between us and my parents so that they stay safe!

We went to Amish country over the weekend for a little getaway. We were wearing masks even though we were walking on the streets outside. We took them off for the pictures.

So much fun browsing and shopping and all of the Amish shops!

Of course we had to get ice cream! The ice cream was amazing at this little shop!

The girls wanted to pose on the giant chair!

We got home my parents house and could not wait to get into the hot tub! They only fill this thing in the winter and we look forward to it every year!

And Sunday was spent helping my parents rake leaves at the lake. They have a lot of leaves to rake and I needed the exercise! I love this picture with the lake and the flag!

I’m sorry I’ve been slightly MIA and I promise to change that. I’m now going to head off and catch up on all of you! Thanks for all of you who have reached out on Facebook and Instagram also. I am OK and I’m coming out of the funk slowly but surely. I think making a commitment to blog every day will help as well. So I plan to do this as much as possible.

I love the blogging community and all of you! Thank you for always being that ear when I need one to listen and thanks for making my life so much brighter and broader!!!
Hugs to you all!!!!

Sugarcreek Ohio Trip

A few weeks ago my friend and myself rented a house on VRBO in Sugarcreek, Ohio for the weekend. My friend Laura had never been there and is intrigued by the Amish lifestyle.

This is a picture of the road trip there. It is only about two hours from my house.  Laura had to work Friday so she worked while I drove! LOL!

Here is the kitchen of the cabin we stayed at. It was called "Slice of Heaven" in Sugarcreek, Ohio if anyone is looking for a place to rent. We got one side of the cabin for ourselves and there was another couple in the other side. It was clean and comfy for the weekend.

Here is a look through the main area of the cabin back through the bathroom and bedroom. The couch pulled out so we took turns - each had one night on the bed and then one night on the couch. LOL!

This is Day one of shopping in town...

This was a cute little shop-things you will never find anywhere else!!!

This was in the museum we toured...it is a sewing chair!!! They should still make these - how handy is this!?!??!?!

This is a town near where my parents grew up!!!

Here is a plate from the museum.  I love this town because this is my heritage. I am Swiss and my Great grandmother came here from Switzerland and settled a few towns away from Sugarcreek.

A goofy picture...

This is the world's largest cuckoo clock!!!

Here we are at dinner! This is why I always take pictures of the menu. I can not remember the name of this restaurant to save my life! The girl at the museum recommended it and it was GREAT!

Fried cheese curds - there is NOTHING better!

My dinner - fish and sweet potato fries - also a side of cauliflower!!!

We got to dine with Amish families!  Outside of the restaurant there were so many horse buggies. A lot of Amish people eat in the town and it was really cool to see them out to dinner as a family.

This is the view in the back of the cabin. It was early in the morning and the sun rise looked so pretty!!!

Shopping, shopping and more shopping! We bought soo much stuff!! We bought cheeses, meats, chocolate and antiques galore!

On Saturday night Laura did not feel well so she took some medicine and went to bed at 6PM. I booked a ticket online for the Amish theater. It was hilarious!! Since I was only one person; I got the best seat last minute. It was the last seat in the third row! SCORE!

This was the moon when I got back home to the cabin Saturday night! So beautiful out there with no street lights...just God and us!

Here is a shot of the cabin at night from our car. Very cozy and quaint!!!

We spent the next day shopping some more in the morning and then headed for home.

I highly recommend this cozy cabin "Slice of Heaven" if you are looking to stay somewhere in Sugarcreek Ohio. It is far enough away from Sugarcreek to not be in the middle of crowds and  close enough that it is very convenient for going back and forth!

Hugs to you all!

What trips have you taken lately? Ever been to Amish country? Do you enjoy a weekend away shopping (NYC, etc.) or no?  Ever ridden in horse and buggy? HUGS!!!

Sugarcreek Visit

Back in June, my family and I took a little trip through Sugarcreek, Ohio.

We were headed to our favorite store to shop when it is rainy at the lake! It has everything and we could easily spend the entire day there~

On this trip we did a few stops along the way...

First we stopped in Sugarcreek town square which is home to the world's largest Cuckoo Clock! It was great...when we arrived it was 10 minutes until the top of hour so we had a very short wait and the show began. I asked my nieces to do this (point and pose) and was extremely shocked that they obliged me! HA!

The clock "performs" every hour and every half hour.

Here it is...ENJOY! Sorry it flips partway through, you have to lean to finish watching...HA!

Worlds largest cuckoo clock from ann wolfe on Vimeo.

From there we passed the Worlds Largest Adirondack chair so we decided to make that a photo opp too!!! See those looming storm clouds above?!?!

The family...I am taking the picture...I just noticed that my Dad has his tongue sticking out! WHAT?!?!

My niece and I...

Selfie in the chair!!!

All in all it was a great day! I love those days where you have no plans and just find fun stuff to explore and visit!

Anyone else enjoy driving with no plans? Looking for the next adventure? How do you spend rainy days? What was your favorite spontaneous stop?

I hope you all have an amazing week! Hugs!
