Just Another Wednesday

Happy Tuesday Wednesday everyone!!! Wow! It is hump day and I am calling it Tuesday!

Can you tell I did not sleep at all last night??? It is going to be a long day!! UGH!

It is another lovely, dark day in the Burgh this morning and I am praying for sunshine! I think I may need to go tanning soon. UGH!

I mentioned yesterday to someone that my cat is obsessed with the fish tank. This obsession comes and goes. It is really strange. For months he will ignore it and then all the sudden he will not leave it alone!! This was him after work last night! HA! He would not get off and leave the fish alone! HA!

"I know I can catch it!!!"

"Mom, what is the big deal if I want to sit on top of the tank????"

Carzy crazy cat! He did this a lot when he was little which is how he got the name Trouble but it comes and goes...very weird!!!

So we found this adorable colony of cats near our condo building and it looks like we are going to attempt and catch and neuter/spay if possible this Thursday. I am getting all the help from Pittsburgh Homeless Cat Management Team. I promise to document the whole thing. These little guys are girls are super cute and I can not wait to see them up close!  If the cats are friendly, I think the Pittsburgh Homeless Cat Management Team will try to find them indoor homes which I would love!! If they are not friendly then they will release them back to where we found them after the spay and neuters heal.  It kills me to think of anything suffering outside although they have done very well so far out there! We will find out soon!

Lastly!!! I FINALLY have an update on the dog bite situation!

As far as the county is concerned; the hearing is next week (the 12th) at the magistrate for the bite, my prescription cost which they refused to pay ($10) and the fact that the dog was not registered or up to date on shots. It will be a hefty fine for them I think.

Also, as far as the condo board is concerned...The condo board sent them two letters requesting they re-home the dog since it bit a resident or they would be fined. They kept the dog anyway. Their fines are now up to $1500 and then next step was the condo boards lawyer sent them a letter to re-home the dog (by the 22nd of January) or we are filing in court. So we are filing in court. They actually called the lawyer on the 29th and said they re-homed the dog but the lawyer said it is too late. So off to another court date we go. The dog is definitely still there...some of my neighbors have seen it....so yet another lie. I just REALLY wish they would move but no chance!

They will harass the building residents for years to come I am sure!! UGH!

But I promise to keep you all posted on that also!

Nothing super exciting here...just life with a few ups and downs...

I hope everyone has a great day - HUGS to you all!

  1. Trouble is so funny, thanks for sharing. As for the dog--we don't live in a condo, but our city is very strict about wayward animals roaming the streets. Then again, we are not as big as Pittsburgh. Hornell is very strict about shots etc. We pay like $7 a year for update to date records--I know not expensive--but I have to tell you, the city will hunt you down if you don't pay it/keep up with the records, shots, vet etc.

Have a great day, smiles. Please keep us updated.

  4. That's a tough situation with the condo dog. You clearly have a heart for animals but when their owners don't restrain them from being a threat to people, boundaries need to be enforced.

    1. That is exactly it Barbara! Evn more just take responsibility!! When it happened I stood there in shock as the owner never said sorry or bad dog...he just grunted and took the dog inside!!! Then when I went to get my antibiotic and asked them to give me the $10 copay since their dog bit me they said NO!!! That is when I decided to take it to the end. Had they said sorry and taken responsibility then it would be a very different ending!!! It was amazing that they refused to acknowledge it AT ALL!!! Have a great day!

  5. They make videos for cats. I'll bet yours would love watching those. Maybe he's hunting dinner. Did you remember to feed him? LOL

Those outdoor cats you're going to try to catch sure are beautiful! I wish I wasn't allergic. I would love to have a cat.

  6. Oh gosh... maybe you just let it go & avoid the neighbors because it sounds like they're not top notch people & even in the end, they're just going to make your life & everyone around miserable... I'm sorry you're going through that.
That cat with the fish tank is HILARIOUS!!! He thinks its a new toy for him

    1. Oh no! That is sad to me because usually when there are that many they are sick and they fight and inbreed!! So sad! That is exactly why I am working so hard to find these guys a barn so they can live a happy life in the wild catching mice and helping in a warm barn! Have a great day Julie!

  14. Maybe your fellow and problem residents will have learnt some kind of lessons when the fines have to be paid. The inbetween point between cats becoming pets and released into the wild is to be housed as a barn cat, which is not a bad life for them.

    1. Right Andrew!!! That is what I am shooting for - hopefully we will find a barn!! YAY!!!! Fingers crossed! Have a fantastic week!

  15. Trouble has found entertainment. Hope all goes well with the cats. It would be nice if they could all find homes. It's sad to think of them living out there on their own.
Too bad about all the problems with the neighbor. Do they really think people are stupid enough to believe they have rehomed the dog.

    1. They really do think that Ann! And, we are convinced when they finally do get rid of it - they will bring it back within a week! They are definitely not all there upstairs and it is torture for the building! I swear they have been torturing residents for the past 15 years!!! It is awful! This is the downside of closing the state homes for the mentally unstable. They both needs to have meds regulated and they both are not all there upstairs and they foster each others bad behaviors and there is no one to keep them in check! It is truly sad as they both really are just very sick, UGH! Have a great day!

  19. omg, your dog bite neighbors! Wouldn't even pay your $10 prescription? Some people... what a pain. No wonder the dog's messed up.
Our cat would become temporarily obsessed with our toad tank, then couldn't care less - only to start the cycle again. Who knows what goes on in cat brains? So cool that you're taking care of the cats in the neighborhood. Yes, keep us posted!

  21. Trouble is a cat on a mission! Thank you for taking care of the feral cats. We have them in Philly too. A lot of them. There is a group on my block which I and my neighbors feed. One of my neighbors gave them little houses to stay in when the weather is bad and got them all neutered and/or spayed. She has been finding homes for the ones who will go inside.

Oh how I hope that poor dog is taken from those awful people. To allow a dog to run loose and bite people is terrible. And to refuse to pay is even worse.

  22. Indulge me a moment, because I have a story to share with YOU. When I graduated 8th grade to high school, my uncle gave me a kitten. Without consulting my mother. She was not happy.

We already had two cats and they were getting old. This kitten had been rescued from my uncle's new girlfriend's garage, and my mother didn't like the idea of introducing a cat who hadn't been vaccinated, etc., to our two oldsters. (Plus, the kitten had diarrhea because my uncle's girlfriend was a ninny who fed her leftovers from her waitress job at a seafood restaurant. Who knew that lobster newburg isn't good for a newly weaned kitten?)

I was heartsick. I wanted the kitten. My uncle wanted me to have the kitten, less for me than to impress his new girl. And he knew my mom (his sister) longer and better than anyone. So he took the kitten, pressed it into my mom's hand (the kitten was that little) and said, "Do you feel that heartbeat? If you don't take the kitten, we have no choice but to put her down."

Naturally my mom gave in, as he knew she would. But she had two demands: 1) I agree that this was a trial and 2) we call the cat TROUBLE because that's all she'd ever be.

You know how this story ends, don't you? Trouble's "trial period" lasted almost 14 years, until she died in her sleep on my mom's sofa. I inherited the cat-lover gene from my mom.

I hope your Trouble has as happy a life as ours did.
